Overview if the Organisation

PGCB is a Tanzanian non-governmental organization dedicated to transforming rural communities through sustainable development and environmental restoration. Since its establishment in 2018, the organization has focused on combating poverty by restoring degraded landscapes, empowering families, and promoting resilience in some of the country’s most vulnerable regions.

What We Do

At the core of our work is the belief that restoring degraded landscapes is central to poverty alleviation. Prosper for Greening Community Base works to:

  • Promote sustainable land management practices and responsible use of natural resources.

  • Restore degraded ecosystems and enhance biodiversity.

  • Improve community well-being through education, capacity building, and health initiatives.

  • Foster active participation of communities in decision-making and local development.

Key Projects

A flagship initiative is the Greening Africa Three (GA3) Project, launched in October 2023 in Kwamafunchi Village. GA3 focuses on restoring degraded lands, promoting sustainable agriculture, improving livelihoods, and strengthening community resilience. The project is implemented in collaboration with Pachamama Raymi (Peru) and funded by Dutch sponsors, including STICHTING PERSPECTIEF, STICHTING SUMMER FUND, and STICHTING OTTERFONDS

Why We Exist

Prosper for Greening Community Base exists to bridge the gap between poverty and sustainable prosperity. By integrating environmental restoration with community empowerment and sustainable development, the organization seeks to create lasting change that benefits both people and the planet.

What Makes Us Unique

At Prosper for Greening Community Base, we take a comprehensive approach to fighting poverty and driving sustainable development. While many organizations focus on just one area, we combine environmental restoration, community empowerment, and socio-economic growth to deliver solutions that last for generations.

Our Key Differentiators
– Landscape Restoration at the Core – rebuilding ecosystems to support both people and nature.
– Community-First Model – ensuring initiatives are designed with and for the people we serve.
– Capacity Building – equipping communities with knowledge and skills to thrive independently.
– Collaborative Partnerships – working closely with stakeholders for greater impact.
– Sustainability & Resilience – creating solutions that endure challenges and future changes.
– Blending Tradition with Innovation – valuing local knowledge while applying modern practices.
– Proven, Measurable Impact – tracking real outcomes that improve lives and environments.

Our mission is to facilitate comprehensive and sustainable prosperity for rural families by revitalizing natural resources, improving community health, and unlocking the inherent potential of local populations. Through strategic partnerships with local governments, institutions, and international collaborators, we aim to create lasting positive impact that balances ecological sustainability with socio-economic growth.

We envision free, self-sufficient, and thriving rural communities where poverty is eradicated, and sustainable development is achieved through the collective efforts of local populations. This vision guides all our initiatives and projects, ensuring that development is both inclusive and environmentally responsible.

Our programs and interventions are guided by four fundamental values:

  • Ecosystem Conservation: Committed to preserving natural environments for current and future generations.

  • Curiosity: Encouraging continuous learning, innovation, and exploration of effective solutions.

  • Collaboration: Building strong partnerships with communities, governments, NGOs, and other stakeholders for collective impact.

  • Resilience: Empowering communities to adapt, recover, and thrive despite social, environmental, and economic challenges.
